By the Blood / Glyph & Type Logo Design
It was awesome to get to work with By the Blood again on their new logo and merch line for 2016. We worked together on an all new logo and bringing a variety of different merch styles to life.
Why a glyph? The glyph’s primary purpose is to build brand recognition. As fans grow to know this symbol, they’ll immediately be able to pick it out everywhere it’s used and associate it with the band. It’s versatile in every way imaginable. The glyph can be used as a profile photo, on a hem tag of a t-shirt, and it can be hidden throughout all future merch designs.
Why a type logo? Alongside the glyph, it’s important the band has their name available for posters, photos, banners, etc. Rather than simply typing out their name in a free font, I designed an option that aesthetically matches their new brand. It sets the visual tone for the band’s brand, and plays a key role in bridging the gap from their music to their look.
